
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — In line with efforts to explore innovative and sustainable energy solutions for the Province of Aklan, officials of Aklan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AKELCO) and Aklan State University (ASU) conducted a benchmarking and exploratory meeting with Cagayan State University (CSU), today to learn about the university’s initiatives in electric vehicle (EV) development and related technologies.
The delegation was led by AKELCO Board President Virgilio C. Sacdalan, General Manager, Atty. Ariel Gepty and ASU President Dr. Jeffrey C. Clarin and Prof. Richard Dionisio.
During the visit, CSU officials shared their experiences and expertise in the research, design, and development of electric vehicles, as well as the opportunities and challenges associated with advancing electric mobility. The discussions provided valuable insights into emerging technologies and best practices that may serve as reference for future initiatives in Aklan.
The benchmarking activity also served as an avenue to exchange ideas on the potential role of academic institutions, the electric distribution utility, and other stakeholders in supporting innovation, research, and sustainable transportation.
For AKELCO, the activity forms part of its continuing efforts to keep abreast of emerging technologies that could contribute to a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy sector. Likewise, ASU recognizes the importance of research and innovation in addressing future energy and mobility needs within the province.
The exploratory meeting opened opportunities for future discussions and possible areas of cooperation should both institutions determine that such initiatives would be beneficial to the Province of Aklan.
