KALIBO, AKLAN — In line with the goal of Building Smarter Local Governments, Delivering Better Public Services, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Region VI has successfully wrapped up a five-day intensive training on the eLGU System for the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Nabas and Ibajay, Aklan, held from July 27 to 31, 2026 at the ILCDB Conference Room, DICT Region VI.

Organized by the DICT Region VI eLGU Project Team, the training focused on building the technical capacity of LGU personnel in administering and operating core digital government platforms — namely the Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS), Electronic Local Civil Registry (eLCR), Electronic Community Tax Certificate (eCedula), and eNews.

Throughout the five-day program, participants gained hands-on knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively manage, implement, and sustain these digital systems at the local level. The initiative forms part of DICT’s broader push to modernize government operations and reduce red tape through technology.

📈 Better Services for Residents and Businesses

The impact of this training will be felt directly by the communities of Nabas and Ibajay. With fully implemented eLGU systems, residents and local businesses can look forward to:

– ✅ Faster and more efficient processing of business permits and licenses
– ✅ More convenient access to civil registry services and community tax certificates
– ✅ Timely and reliable dissemination of local government information
– ✅ Streamlined, transparent, and responsive transactions with the municipal government

💬 Commitment to Digital Transformation

“As we advance digital transformation across Western Visayas, initiatives like the eLGU training reinforce our commitment to helping local governments build more efficient, technology-driven, and service-oriented communities,” DICT Region VI stated. “By equipping LGUs with the right tools and skills, we bring government services closer to the people and create a better experience for every constituent.”

The successful rollout of these systems marks a major step toward fully digital, inclusive, and responsive local governance in Aklan — a key milestone under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda.
