2026 AI Fest partners with CapCut Philippines to showcase the possibilities of AI in filmmaking in Iloilo

Iloilo City- The 2026 AI Fest CapCut Philippines highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in filmmaking through the 2026 SineAI Film Screening held on August 3, 2026, at Festive Walk Cinemas in Iloilo City.
As the Official Creative Technology Partner of SineAI, CapCut Philippines supported participating filmmakers by providing access to AI-powered creative tools that enhanced various stages of the filmmaking process. The partnership demonstrated how AI can complement human creativity by streamlining production workflows while allowing storytellers to focus on developing compelling narratives rooted in the culture, heritage, and lived experiences of Western Visayas.
Throughout the competition, participating teams integrated CapCut’s AI-powered features into their creative process, showcasing how accessible creative technologies can empower both aspiring and emerging filmmakers to bring their ideas to life.
The film screening featured ten AI-assisted films anchored on the theme, “Mga Eksena sang Nagligad, Mga Sugilanon nga Nagapadayon Subong” (Scenes from the Past, Stories for Today). The entries were produced by five student teams representing West Visayas State University (WVSU), University of San Agustin (USA), Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), and Northern Iloilo State University (NISU), alongside five teams composed of emerging filmmakers and creative professionals.
SineAI is one of the flagship programs of the 2026 AI Fest, highlighting the practical applications of AI in the creative industries. Through this initiative, AI Fest and CapCut Philippines to foster meaningful discussions on the responsible, ethical, and innovative use of AI in filmmaking and other creative disciplines while encouraging greater collaboration between technology and the Philippine creative sector.
Expanding opportunities for digital creators, AI Fest and CapCut Philippines also introduced the SineAI x CapCut Online Category, inviting content creators from across the country to produce and share short-form AI-assisted stories on social media. The online competition received a total of 62 entries, reflecting the growing interest in AI-enabled storytelling and digital content creation.
Institutional partners such as the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), WVSU, Mulave Studios, and the Regional Committee for Heritage, Arts, Culture of the Regional Development Council VI (RDC VI) are also in full support the 2026 SineAI.
Winners of the SineAI Film Competition will be announced on August 5, 2026, during the 2026 AI Fest Closing Ceremony. The champion teams in both the Student and Open categories will each receive a cash prize of Php 40,000.00, while the Top 3 winners of the SineAI x CapCut Online Category will receive Php 25,000.00, Php 15,000.00, and Php 10,000.00, respectively. Consolation prizes and special awards will also be presented in recognition of outstanding achievements. (NABFactuar, DOST Western Visayas)
