KALIBO, Aklan- In a small day-care center in Kalibo, volunteers from the Movement of Gratitude are turning gratitude into action, bringing joy and learning opportunities to children with donated storybooks and activity kits.
Their impactful community work has earned recognition in the Aklan Ten Outstanding Youth Organization Awards (ATOYO), celebrating youth-led groups that make meaningful community contributions. Since its launch in 2020, the Movement of Gratitude has reached thousands of beneficiaries across Aklan, including children, mothers, and families.
Its initiatives include Munting Gawain: Adopt a Day Care, which has partnered with various barangay day-care centers, providing learning materials, activity kits, and facility support. Project Tatap has provided over 500 newborn kits to mothers in remote barangays, while literacy drives have delivered thousands of books to children in need.
Project Play has organized numerous play and recreational sessions to create safe, nurturing spaces for children. In addition to these core programs, the Movement of Gratitude has conducted feeding programs and disaster-relief operations that reached more than 2,000 families affected by typhoons and other emergencies. Through these initiatives, volunteers have not only provided immediate assistance but also strengthened local resilience and encouraged community participation in sustainable development efforts.

The organization has also prioritized volunteer training, mentorship, and volunteerism sessions. This has cultivated a generation of volunteers committed to service, empathy, and active citizenship, ensuring that the spirit of gratitude continues to grow across the province.
The volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization. Their efforts have transformed classrooms into learning havens, created safe recreational spaces, and strengthened community engagement in barangays across the province.
Being recognized in ATOYO is a milestone, but for the Movement of Gratitude, the real reward lies in the strengthened bonds within the community. The beneficiaries have noted that the organization has not only provided material support but also inspired a renewed sense of hope and togetherness. The Movement of Gratitude continues to inspire volunteers and support families by transforming gratitude into hope across Aklan.
Its journey illustrates how youth-driven compassion and community service can multiply positive change throughout the province.
