Sinacaban and Clarin students now have a safer and more disaster-resilient learning environment following the turnover of newly built classrooms funded by 2nd District Congressman Ando Oaminal, in collaboration with Governor Henry Oaminal and the Asenso Misamis Occidental administration.

Unlike traditional classrooms, these new structures meet Typhoon and Earthquake Resilient standards, ensuring that students and teachers remain safe during calamities. According to Brayan Jamis of DepEd Misamis Occidental, the facilities are designed with reinforced foundations, durable roofing, and impact-resistant walls, making them resilient against natural disasters.

“Education should not only be accessible but also safe. These classrooms are built to protect our students, allowing them to continue learning even in the face of challenges,” said Mr. Jamis.

Beyond their durability, the classrooms are equipped with separate comfort rooms and handwashing stations, enhancing sanitation and promoting better health practices among students. Local school heads and teachers expressed gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing how it addresses overcrowding while ensuring long-term safety and sustainability in education infrastructure.

Parents also welcomed the project, seeing it as a major step towards improving the learning environment for their children. The DepEd and the Asenso Misamis Occidental team reaffirmed their commitment to prioritizing quality education by ensuring that future classrooms across the province follow the same disaster-resilient standards.
