Nabas, Aklan- Pregnancy is one of the most transformative experiences in a woman’s life, encompassing physical and emotional changes and the enormous responsibility of nurturing a new life. In this light, the Buntis Congress emerges as an essential platform to support and empower pregnant women by disseminating information regarding safe pregnancy practices, proper nutrition, and maternal health.
It is also part of the Department of Health Universal Health Care High Impact Five that aims to accelerate the reduction in maternal deaths, and infant and under-five mortality, halt HIV/AIDS, and strengthen the service delivery network.
The Local Government Unit of Nabas through its Rural Health Unit (RHU) organized its annual Buntis Congress 2024 with this year’s theme “Empowering Nabasnon Pregnant Women the Importance of Safe Motherhood Journey” on November 15 at the Nabas Primary Health Care Facility.
Forty pregnant women participated and received free laboratory services and maternal and neonatal kits. The event also included lectures and IEC materials on pregnancy and the importance of prenatal check-ups, immunizations, breastfeeding, and family planning.
The Buntis Congress 2024 dispersed significant information about pregnancy and motherhood and created a safe space for mothers-to-be to share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs. Connecting them with healthcare professionals of RHU Nabas and fellow parents provided a network of support that extends beyond the event.
When a mother knows she is not alone, she becomes stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to face a transformative journey ahead of her.
Spearheaded by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Minzy M. Delos Reyes and with the program facilitated by Nurse I Janvie Dionisio-Noble, the Buntis Congress 2024 succeeded not only in empowering mothers but in holistically building the foundation of healthier, happier families and, ultimately, a stronger Nabas.
