NBI Arrests Jordanian National for Illegal Possession of Firearm

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) today said operatives of NBI-Special Task Force (NBI-STF) arrested a Jordanian national in Makati City for illegal possession of firearm and violent acts inside a hotel premises.

NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Eric B. Distor identified the Jordanian national as Tarek Siam.

OIC Director Distor said the NBI received a letter complaint from Congressman Anthony Rolando T. Golez, Attorney-in-Fact of Makati Hotel and Residences Condominium Corporation, requesting law enforcement assistance regarding MR. TAREK SIAM who had been violently harassing the employees of a hotel in Makati City and even threatened several security guards of the said establishment with a gun violating election gun ban and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2012.

On January 25, 2022, NBI operatives received a phone call from the management of the hotel requesting immediate law enforcement assistance to avert the violent acts being committed by TAREK SIAM inside the hotel premises. As relayed, TAREK SIAM was in possession of a hand gun as he was destroying and breaking the hallway lights of the 22nd floor of the hotel. NBI operatives immediately responded but upon arrival, TAREK SIAM went back inside his room.

Meantime, operatives were shown CCTV footages showing that TAREK SIAM was indeed in possession of a firearm and while outside his residence, he loaded his gun. According to the management of the hotel, TAREK SIAM had been brandishing and drawing his gun against any hotel personnel.

NBI-STF checked the database of criminal records and found out that there is a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 005 against TAREK SIAM for violation of RA 7610 otherwise known as Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

With the Warrant of Arrest at hand, operatives patiently waited for someone from TAREK SIAM’s room to come out, taking into consideration the safety of the hotel residents as TAREK SIAM may react violently using his gun. When a female individual came out of the room, operatives took the opportunity to sneak inside. NBI-STF operatives declared their presence and informed TAREK SIAM of his Warrant of Arrest and placed the Subject under arrest after being apprised of his statutory and constitutional rights.

Recovered from Subject TAREK SIAM were one (1) Glock 27 Gen 4 mounted with a laser and inserted with a loaded magazine with 13 Caliber .40 ammunitions and two (2) magazines of Glock .40 Caliber with caliber.40 ammunitions.

Charges for violation of RA 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and violation of The Omnibus Election Code were filed against TAREK SIAM before the City Prosecutor, Makati City.
