Gelito Vows Integrity and Service-Driven Leadership in Inaugural Speech Malay, Aklan – In his inaugural address delivered this afternoon, newly-elected Sangguniang Bayan Member Grengo T. Gelito struck a heartfelt and determined tone as he pledged to champion inclusive, health-centered, and people-powered governance for the Municipality of Malay.
“This milestone is not mine alone—it belongs to every volunteer, every supporter, and every Malaynon who placed their trust in me,” Gelito declared, acknowledging the broad community support behind his candidacy. Grengo T. Gelito placed second in the May 12, 2025 elections, garnering 14,593 votes. A registered nurse by profession, Gelito emphasized that his core advocacy lies in healthcare—a commitment rooted in both his training and a deep belief in holistic well-being.
“Health is not merely the absence of disease—it is the presence of complete well-being: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social,” he said. He vowed to promote preventive health care, proper nutrition, and strong barangay-based health systems. Gelito also highlighted the need for long-term solutions to healthcare challenges in Malay. “Access to healthcare must not be a privilege but a right for all,” he asserted.
“We must address barriers and improve access, education, and support systems—especially for those in the margins.” Recognizing Malay’s global status as a tourism hub, Councilor Gelito pledged to help craft ordinances that strengthen public health standards within the tourism sector. “Our tourism establishments must be prepared not only to welcome—but to care,” he emphasized, adding that safety, sanitation, and wellness should be core components of Malay’s tourism brand. Calling for inclusive and participatory governance, Gelito stressed the importance of community consultation in policymaking:
“We must legislate with the people, not just for the people. You are not spectators—you are partners in shaping our community’s future.” Gelito closed his address with a call for unity and collective responsibility among local leaders and constituents. “Let us move forward together—consulting, collaborating, and committing ourselves to the people’s welfare.”
He also expressed his commitment to serve “with integrity, humility, and heart.” Councilor Gelito joins the legislative body led by Mayor Fromy Bautista, expressing confidence in the shared vision among both veteran and neophyte councilors for a “stronger, kinder, and more progressive Malay.” “Abu gid nga salamat, and may God bless the people of Malay,” Gelito concluded.
