Kalibo, Aklan โ In a world often driven by personal pursuits and digital distractions, the Kiwanis Club of Kalibo stands as a living testament to the enduring power of volunteerism. Celebrating its 46th founding anniversary this July 13, the club gathered members, partners, and guests at the Evergreen Resort in Kalibo to honor nearly five decades of selfless service to the community.
As one of the oldest Kiwanis clubs in the Philippine South District, now under Division 2C, the Kiwanis Club of Kalibo continues its mission of serving the children of the world โ one community, one project at a time. Leading this yearโs celebration is Club President Lilia Ureta Tayco, joined by no less than Kiwanis Philippine South District Governor James Edwin Go, who lauded the clubโs unwavering commitment through the years.
โForty-six years is no small feat. It is a testament to the deep-rooted spirit of bayanihan among our members โ giving their time, talent, and treasure in the name of service,โ Governor Go said.

Highlighting the program was a heartfelt and inspiring message from Past District Governor Ike Altavas, a โtrue-blooded Kiwanianโ whose decades-long dedication continues to inspire younger generations. โVolunteerism is not a trend. Itโs a lifelong commitment to making a difference. Thatโs what Kiwanis stands for,โ Altavas shared, drawing applause from the audience.
Since its founding, the Kiwanis Club of Kalibo has led countless initiatives focusing on childrenโs welfare, health, education, and community development. From deworming drives and nutrition campaigns to scholarship support and disaster assistance, the clubโs projects reflect a deeply embedded culture of service.
As the club marks its 46th year, it also looks forward โ inviting new members and community partners to be part of a global movement that believes lasting change starts with a helping hand.
In a time when volunteerism is often overshadowed by individualism, the Kiwanis Club of Kalibo reminds us all: a community thrives not just through leaders, but through everyday citizens who choose to serve.
