Ashkelon, Israel- The Boracay Sand Castle Makers Association (BSCMA), led by its President, Ms. Demple Pagsuguiron, brought international attention to their artistic talent during the Sand Sculpture Festival held at Daliya Beach, Ashkelon, Israel, from July 13, 2025, marking the kickoff of the month-long celebration.
The participation of BSCMA was made possible through an invitation extended by NOADIM Group, a private digital and creative company led by the owner and CEO, Ms. Shlomit Ozeri-Vaknin. Five (5) distinguished Boracay sand artists, namely Jonathan P. Baristo, Joven N. Salibio, April Rose R. Naig, Nel Malicse, and Reymer M. Dorado , were commissioned to take part in the festival, not as competitors, but as featured talents selected for their internationally recognized skill in sand sculpting.
Although the artists were invited in a professional capacity, their presence brought immense pride to their home community, as they showcased the depth of talent cultivated in the Philippines, particularly on the island of Boracay, where sand sculpting is both a livelihood and a form of cultural expression.
The Sand Sculpture Festival, organized by NOADIM Group in collaboration with local government units, is designed to promote tourism, cultural appreciation, and artistic innovation. Following the Ashkelon leg, the festival will continue in Haifa Municipality from July 27 to August 1, and in Nahariya Municipality on August 7, 2025.
The involvement of the Boracay sand artists in this international initiative not only highlights their world-class expertise, but also serves as a powerful platform for promoting Filipino creativity on the global stage. Their work reflects the rich artistic heritage of their community and contributes to the growing appreciation of sand art as a professional and cultural pursuit.
