
KALIBO, Aklan- More Aklanons athletes are qualified for the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Associations (WVRAA) soon. This after they won several milestones in the recently concluded Aklan Provincial Athletic Association Meet held at Aklan Sports Complex in Makato, Aklan, hosted by the Department of Education.
The said athletic tilt was held on March 13โ17. Coached ย by Eric Valencia under the Aklan Assa Sea Dragons were Josh Lee Matorres, who was hailed as the most bemedalled swimmer in different swimming categories. He grabbed six golds and two silvers.
Aside from Matorres, other qualifiers include Scharnelle Fiele Pullantes, who won five golds and a silver medal; Christine Jois Tan, who also garnered five golds and two silvers; Piero Gabriel Macaro, winning two golds and a silver medal; Cyrah Heart Ledesma, winning three golds and three silvers; Allysha Patrice Dela Cruz, grabbing two golds and three silvers; and Maria Ruzena Martinez, collecting a silver and two bronzes.ย

Along with Aden Nino Talunay, having two golds, a silver, and a certificate for Cyle Jeferson Gervero for joining the paralympics. They were all representing Unit V, which is Kalibo.
For Unit Four, which is Malay, the winners were Jose Marco Bassig, who grabbed two golds, four silvers, and a bronze, together with Mary Dandee Gab finishing with two golds and four bronzes, while Brenant Hilario, representing Banga, gathered a silver for a 100-meter butterfly event.
Kalibo Councilor Phillip Yerro Kimpo said that he is congratulating all the qualifiers, especially those representing the Ati-atihan town.
