TOPCOP seminar in Boracay

Malay, Aklan โ€“ On August 15, 2025, the Department of Tourism Region VI in partnership with the Police Regional Office 6 and the Municipality of Malay, formally opened the 4-day Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection (TOPCOP) Training at Hue Hotel, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.
The training is attended by 50 participants composed of personnel from the Malay Municipal Police Station and various police stations across Aklan. Over the course of four days, the participants will undergo intensive training designed to enhance their skills and readiness in handling tourism-related duties, particularly in Boracay Island.
The opening ceremony was graced by DOT VI Assistant Regional Director Phoebe Zelie C. Areรฑo, PRO6 Chief, SOS/PSS, ROD PMAJ CHRISTIAN P MAHOMETANO, Malay Mayor Frolibar S. Bautista, and Malay MPS Officer-In-Charge PMAJ MARISSA S ARELLANO.
According to Assistant Regional Director Areรฑo, the program aims to equip police officers with the competence, professionalism, and right attitude required in performing their responsibilities as tourist police. She expressed optimism that this activity will further strengthen inter-agency collaboration between the DOT, PNP, and LGUs toward the shared goal of safer communities and safer destinations for both local and foreign visitors.
In her message, PMAJ ARELLANO assured that the training will run smoothly and effectively, emphasizing the active participation of all attending police officers to ensure the programโ€™s objectives are met.
