Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Wick Veloso met with officers of the Philippine Government Employees Association (PGEA) to intensify awareness of Ginhawa Go, the agency’s short-term microloan facility for government workers.
The meeting was held in line with the directive of Department of Finance Secretary Frederick Go to expand information dissemination so more members can benefit from the program.
Veloso said Ginhawa Go provides fast and affordable financial assistance through the GSIS Touch mobile application, offering members a safer alternative to high-interest borrowing during temporary financial needs.
“Ginhawa Go is designed as a practical bridge for temporary financial gaps. It gives our members access to immediate support without exposing them to excessive interest and debt traps,” Veloso said.
He stressed that strong information partnerships are crucial to the program’s success.
“We cannot rely on announcements alone. We need leaders like PGEA to help us cascade accurate information to the grassroots so members can make informed financial decisions,” he added.
Veloso then called on the association to help amplify the campaign.
“We call on PGEA to actively disseminate information about Ginhawa Go to your members to ensure they are aware of and able to benefit from this important financial support program,” he said.
PGEA, which has a network of almost half a million public service workers nationwide, plays a key role in cascading information to government employees across agencies. “Our goal is not only to lend but to empower. Whether through financial literacy, responsible investing, or improved access to essential services, we want our members to build long-term stability,” Veloso said.
The GSIS Speakers’ Bureau training schedule was also tackled during the meeting. The Speakers’ Bureau trains PGEA members on GSIS programs and services, equipping them to act as facilitators in seminars conducted in agencies nationwide to ensure accurate and consistent communication of GSIS benefits and services.
The dialogue forms part of the standing agreement between GSIS and PGEA to hold regular consultations and provide updates on programs affecting government employees. Both parties agreed to continue discussions in upcoming meetings to address specific issues and concerns raised by association members.
“Open dialogue strengthens trust. When we listen and respond, we strengthen the partnership between GSIS and the government workers we serve,” Veloso said.
