Akeanons in Canada celebrate Ati-Atihan for a cause

VANCOUVER- Aklanons in Vancouver, Canada has celebrated its own version of ati-atihan but with a cause.
Jojo Quimpo, who hails from Altavas, Aklan, in his Facebook post said that the revelry was held at the St. Patrick Gym last January4, 2026.
“The Vancouver Ati-atihan Festival celebration last night was a resounding success. Itโ€™s a full house, and everybody had a great time. Ati-atihan lived up to its reputation as a fun, high-energy, and high-quality celebration. It brought smiles all around the venue. Grabe sobrang dami ang tao at ang saya saya.Maraming first-time attendees at ang common reaction nila – wow super saya. Itโ€™s more than what they expect, and they’re looking forward to next yearโ€™s celebration. Thank you everyone, for your support. Maraming Salamat. May Senior Sto. Nino bless us all. Viva Senior Sto. Nino! See you next year!,” he said.

Quimpo was one of the founders of the Aklanon Sto. Nino Association of British Columbia.

The Vancouver leg is a fundraising event. The funds generated last year were used to purchase 47 wheelchairs. This was then donated to both provincial and district hospitals in Aklan.
Quimpo also cited former association presidents Sharlen Dale Lamsen and Ruth Quimpo Gomez for sustaining the ati-atihan tradition in Vancouver.
