His written work appears in the publication which accompanies the exhibition, which is on view from April 20 to November 24, 2024 at the Philippine Pavilion at the Artiglierie in Arsenale, a major art space in Venice, Italy.
P.Y. Kimpo, currently the Senior Councilor of Kalibo, Aklan, is the author of 10 books, several of which were published by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. He has won national awards and fellowships for his literary works.
He has been commissioned to translate books of National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario, as well as the Philippine folk epic “Ullalim: Nibalya da Kalinga.”
Before going home to Kalibo, he was the editor-in-chief of ABS-CBN Choose Philippines, then a major property of the media network, with 1.7 million followers.
Prior to this, he had written the first-ever complete travelogue on all of Aklanโs 17 towns for the nationwide Sidetrip magazine.
He is the creator of the โFeel Alive, Feel Aklanโ official tourism tagline, and the author of Aklanโs tourism coffeetable book.
In 2021, the Province of Aklan recognized him as โAklanโs Poet Laureate of His Generationโ in a Resolution of Commendation.
