ILOILO City- The heart of Iloilo City beats with music, cherished moments, dances, and a mix of emotions and high energy as Ilongo’s well-loved Americano, Paul Chatman, celebrated his birthday Saturday night, November 25, at the Marriott Ballroom.

Paul, a saxophonist, has done great things for Iloilo for several years. Aside from serving as the president of the Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo, he has elevated Filipino talents in the performing arts industry.

During his 67th birthday bash, several jazz enthusiasts and saxophonists in the USA greeted him with birthday wishes, expressing their respect and appreciation for the man who appreciates world-class music.

Among those well-wishers were the Sounds of Imani, an American band; local entertainers Pangga Monserate Dellera; and Kristina Madrigal, among others. The program was hosted by Vice Ganda of Iloilo City and her duo, Diva Sonia.

The Boracay Island News Network was the only media invited to the birthday bash.

Chatman, while in Iloilo, uses his music to help in the campaign against polio, advocate for buskers, write books for children, and conduct medical missions, among others.

Reports said Paul’s love for music began when he was eight years old, playing the violin and flute. He started to explore saxophone at the age of 13 and later joined local and state competitions in the United States.

He also shared the stage with several performing artists, among them as a guest with Cannonball Aderly, in the early 1970s.
