
KALIBO, Aklan- First District Congressman Carlito Marquez, despite his old age, has shown up publicly during the onslaught of typhoon “Paeng” assessing infrastructure damage in the province.
In his Facebook posts, Marquez said that he conducted ocular inspections in several areas in the province in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Marquez, at the age of 80, was regarded as one of the oldest congressmen in the current Congress. He serves as a vice chair on the committees of public works, transportation, tourism, and science and technology development. “

Earlier, Engr Joey Ureta, chief maintenance engineer of DPWH-Aklan District, said that they are currently conducting an assessment of the overall damage to public works because of the onslaught of typhoon ”Paeng in the province.
Among those significant damages is the closure of the old Kalibo Bridge, which suffered a hole during the flash floods that occurred Thursday.
