
Iloilo City- The DSWD Field Office VI and Local Government Units affected by Typhoon Kristine in Western Visayas has released P1.6 million-worth of goods so far.
This has been released through provision of Family Food Packs to the affected families, mostly in Iloilo, Capiz and Negros Occidental Provinces.
As of 5:30 p.m. of October 23, 2024, the amount of assistance released by DSWD reached P839,735.28 while the LGUs also released P850,963 worth of goods from their own resources.
“We recognize the fast action of our staff as well as those from the LGUs. We see the prepositioning of food packs to be very helpful because it makes the withdrawal of goods faster and easier. Goods are strategically located already in different sites in the region,” said Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Arwin O. Razo.
For DSWD’s part, goods were released for affected families in Roxas City, P330,674; Batad, Iloilo, P52,170; Cadiz, Negros Occidental, P370, 880; Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, 11,590; and Bacolod City, P74,420.
For the LGUs that also released aid from their own resources, Maayon gave P1,000-worth of aid; Pilar, P8,900; both in Capiz Province; New Lucena, P1,000 worth of aid; Lambunao, P39,423; both in Iloilo Province; Cadiz, Negros Occidental, P304,000; and Bacolod City, P74,420.00.
As of reporting time, a total of 45 houses were reported damaged. Of this, six were totally damaged while 39 were partially damaged.
The number of families affected was pegged at 4,602 translated to 20,403 persons.
Also, the agency continues in receiving reports from the LGUs to dispatch needed resource augmentation.
Director Razo has activated the Quick Response Team of DSWD6.
Aside from this, the office has a total of P147.2 million-worth of standby fund and stockpile to respond to the situation./dswd6
