LGU-Aklan Honor Memories of Capitol Lot Donors, Historical Marker Officially Unveiled

A brass historical marker erected at a very prominent and conspicuous location within the Aklan Provincial Capitol Compound was officially unveiled on December 8, 2021 during a fitting dedication ceremonies and unveiling of a memorial marker in honor of the donors held at the Provincial Capitol Compound, Kalibo, Aklan.
The following lot donors: the late Spouses DOMINADOR MERENZ GONZALEZ and CELERINA M. GONZALEZ were represented by their biological grandson, Christopher Jones Quimpo Fernandez and wife Palmi Isturis Fernandez; the late Spouses Sergio A. Fernandez and REMEDIOS GONZALEZ FERNANDEZ were represented by their daughter-in-law Maria Erlinda Quimpo Fernandez and grandchildren: Christopher Jones Quimpo Fernandez and wife Palmi Isturis Fernandez, Christian Michael Quimpo Fernandez and wife Chin Shih Ang Fernandez and their children Chike Mchrinsh Ang Fernandez and Chaste Schrynshih Ang Fernandez, James Gabriel Quimpo Fernandez and wife Shara Marie Tay Fernandez and their children Shariel Maureen T. Fernandez and Jamie Gabrielle T. Fernandez, Francis Louie Quimpo Fernandez and wife Ramonette Tarusan Fernandez, and John Paul Quimpo Fernandez; the late Spouses FEDERICO MIRTO QUIMPO & PEPITA MERENZ GONZALEZ QUIMPO were represented by their grandson Jose Mari “Chem” Quimpo Aldecoa and great grandchildren John Matthew A. Aldecoa, John Peter A. Aldecoa and John Joseph A. Aldecoa .
Aklan Governor Florencio T. Miraflores, Vice Governor Reynaldo Boy Quimpo, and Congressman Carlito S. Marquez, through his representative, Mr. Edilberto Macahilig, alternated in extolling the benevolence, generosity and selflessness of the donors in the presence of their descendants.
“The Provincial Government and the People of Aklan owe you a lasting debt of gratitude and it is only but fitting that this happens under the administration of Governor Florencio T. Miraflores who had readily consented to set into motion the process for the construction of a memorial marker in honor of the lot donors delineated as capitol site”, Quimpo said.
The said ceremony was also attended by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members
Hon. Nemesio P. Neron, Hon. Emmanuel Soviet Russia A. Dela Cruz, Hon. Esel L. Flores, Hon. Ramon S. Gelito, Hon. Jay E. Tejada, Hon. Nelson D. Santamaria, Hon. Ciriaco T. Feliciano, former Congresswoman and 3-Termer Provincial Vice Governor Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo, former ex-officio SP Members Teddy C. Tupas and Apolinar C. Cleope, and department heads of the Provincial Government of Aklan.
On September 17, 2018, during its 101st Regular Session, the 17th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan presided by Regular Presiding Officer, Atty. Reynaldo M. Quimpo, enacted Special Ordinance No. 2018-024 naming the streets surrounding the Provincial Capitol as Federico M. Quimpo Avenue, Remedios G. Fernandez Street, and Dominador M. Gonzalez Street, in honor of the lot donors in grateful recognition of their invaluable contribution to the People and Province of Aklan.
