OPINION: Tibyog Kalibo’s Grand Start Reflects the Pulse of the People

Last March 30, the Tibyog Kalibo team kicked off its campaign with a grand motorcade that swept through the heart of Kalibo. More than just a show of strength, it was a reflection of growing public support—and a signal that the team is moving with both purpose and momentum.

This early energy is backed by solid data. Internal surveys, conducted through random sampling and face-to-face interviews across all 16 barangays in Kalibo, paint a clear picture: the voting population, across all age groups, is rallying behind the Tibyog Kalibo slate.

Mayor Juris Sucro, running for a second term, remains a dominant figure. With a strong record as councilor, board member, and now mayor, he continues to inspire confidence. His survey ratings reflect consistent support: 81% in October 2024, peaking at 87% in November, with a brief dip to 75% in January 2025—before climbing back to a strong 83% in the most recent February–March survey.

Vice Mayor Dr. Cynthia dela Cruz, now on her third term, is also holding firm. A former top councilor and consistent top performer in previous elections, she has once again proven her staying power. From 65% in October 2024, to 66% in November, a brief dip to 61% in January, and then a rebound to 71% in the March–April 2025 round—Dr. Dela Cruz’s upward trend is a testament to her solid public trust and long-standing service.

Also gaining ground is Balete Mayor Dexter Calizo, now seeking the post of Vice Governor. In Kalibo alone, his support has risen from 34% to 44% over the last six months. While 22% of voters remain undecided, Calizo is well-positioned to convert a portion of that base, especially as the campaign intensifies.

In the First District congressional race, Jess Marquez is emerging as a frontrunner. From 62% in October, to 63% in January, and now at 66%, his steady climb shows growing confidence in his leadership.

And let’s not forget Governor Joen Miraflores, who remains a highly trusted figure province-wide, consistently scoring over 80% voter preference in surveys since October 2024. His presence adds strength and continuity to the broader political coalition.

What sets these figures apart isn’t just their strong numbers—it’s the method behind them. The internal survey was conducted through random sampling and face-to-face interviews among the voting population of all ages, ensuring a clear and grounded understanding of community sentiment.

At a time when politics can often feel disconnected, the Tibyog Kalibo team seems to be doing something different—they’re staying connected to the people. From barangay to barangay, face-to-face, voter-to-voter, they are listening. And based on the data, voters are responding.

Tibyog Kalibo isn’t just off to a strong start—it’s moving in sync with the will of the people.
