Resilience begins with unity and community action

Batan,Aklan- Building disaster-resilient communities takes more than preparedness, it requires unity, proactive planning, and shared responsibility.

Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. JK Amir L. Demeterio of Batan, Aklan, underscored these principles as the municipality embarks on the DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS Panahon ng Pagkilos: Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP).

Through the community-driven development approach, DSWD Field Office VI and the local government aim to empower local leaders and residents to identify their vulnerabilities, plan appropriate interventions, and implement solutions suited to their communities’ needs.

As Batan takes this step toward strengthening local resilience, the initiative highlights the importance of collective action in improving disaster preparedness and building safer, more inclusive communities for every family./dswd6/fcsa/jnt
