KALIBO, AKLAN — Prices in Aklan barely moved as 2025 ended, with headline inflation holding at 0.9 percent in December, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported—showing only a slight rise in the cost of goods and services from a year ago.
At this rate, a household that spent ₱500 on basic items in December 2024 would have needed about ₱504 in December 2025. Inflation in Aklan remained lower than both the
regional and national rates, which stood at 1.8 percent. Transport was the biggest driver of price increases, making up nearly 39 percent of the overall inflation. Higher fares and vehicle costs, along with rising prices of alcohol, tobacco, and personal care products, pushed costs up.
Engr. Antonet Catubuan, chief statistical specialist of the PSA-Aklan said that food prices, meanwhile, continued to ease, though more slowly than before. Rice, fish, and meat were cheaper than a year ago, offset partially by rising prices of vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas, and pulses.
The Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) in Aklan stayed at ₱0.80, meaning every peso could buy only 80 centavos’ worth of goods compared with 2018 prices.
“The PSA will continue to monitor price movements to provide timely guidance for policymakers, businesses, and households,” Catubuan said.
