The Aklan Electric Cooperative(AKELCO) has released a statement regarding the series of power interruptions experienced by several barangays in the town of Kalibo.
According to Engr. Jude Ropa of AKELCO, not all power interruptions are caused by their electric lines or systems because some of the problems originate from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines NGCP.
Some of the reasons for sudden unscheduled power outages are found to be snakes that wander across electric lines and the ongoing maintenance in Brgy. New Buswang, Kalibo.
In addition, a lengthy power outage is currently scheduled on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 5:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening where the sub-stations of Nabas, Lezo, Altavas, and Andagao are affected due to maintenance by AKELCO and the NGCP.
This will be followed by another power outage on Sunday, June 19, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm for necessary line maintenance.
Because of this, Engr. Ropa advises not to stock up on perishable foods in the refrigerator on those days with power interruptions to prevent spoilage.
