𝗗𝗔-𝗕𝗙𝗔𝗥 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽

ILOILO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR), as part of its efforts in solidifying the aquaculture industry of the country, has been successful in organizing a crucial Action Planning Workshop for the Implementation of the Philippine Shrimp Roadmap Priorities in the Medium-Term (2026-2030) running from June 10 to June 11, 2026. In these two days of rigorous deliberation, the participants shift gears from assessing their previous year’s performance to formulating an effective plan for their upcoming years in the industry.

The workshop begins with a timely Status and Outlook, which is followed by a thorough analysis of the accomplishments from the years 2021-2025. Building on these insights, the following days are dedicated to intensive breakout sessions for auditing the value chain, identifying key interventions, and writing the Biosecurity Standard Operating Procedure (BSOP) manual in a writeshop.

With a shared vision of reinforcing the roadmap’s goals including 1) a steady and sustainable shrimp industry; 2) a globally competitive shrimp export market; and 3) a conducive enabling environment, Regional Director Remia A. Aparri of DA-BFAR 6 stressed, “We cannot compete in export markets if we cannot consistently produce. We cannot sustain production if the enabling environment, from quality inputs and diagnostics to policy support and extension, remains fragmented.”

“We need to be frank about what is working, what is not, and what gaps remain between the roadmap’s vision and the current realities on the ground,” Director Aparri added during her opening message.

The collaborative workshop brings together various stakeholders, such as the DA-BFAR focal persons, legal partners, marketing and laboratory experts, technical working groups, and dedicated members from the DA-BFAR 6.###/JSArmada
