Akeanon Police General Named Acting PNP Intel Chief

Boracay Island- Brigadier General Arnold Ardiente, an Akeanon has been designated as the Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Intelligence, a position that places him at the forefront of the country’s intelligence and security operations.

According to PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., during his visit here Ardiente’s promotion is a recognition of his professionalism, operational competence, and extensive experience in intelligence work. Nartatez said the two-star general is expected to further strengthen intelligence-driven policing as
the PNP intensifies its campaign against terrorism, organized crime, cybercrime, and other emerging security threats. Nartatez also revealed Ardiente will soon be promoted as Major General, a two star rank.

The PNP chief also highlighted Ardiente’s significant role in international law enforcement engagements, particularly during the 44th ASEAN Chiefs of National Police (ASEANAPOL) Conference, where he was entrusted to serve as Chairperson of Commission A—one of the conference’s key working commissions.

Ardiente told the Boracay Island News Neywork the appointment as both “a profound honor and a distinct privilege,” emphasizing the importance of ASEANAPOL in promoting regional security.

“It is a profound honor and a distinct privilege to serve as the Chairperson of Commission A during the 44th ASEANAPOL Conference,” Ardiente said.

He noted that since its establishment in 1981, ASEANAPOL has served as a cornerstone of regional law enforcement cooperation through intelligence sharing, joint operations, capacity building, and strengthened professional partnerships among member police organizations.

Ardiente, q former Boracay Police Chief added that he was deeply humbled by the trust placed in him to lead Commission A, saying the role reaffirms the shared commitment of ASEAN police leaders to deepen cooperation, enhance collective security, and develop innovative policing strategies in response to evolving transnational threats.

“Together, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of a safer, more secure, and more resilient ASEAN community,” he said.

Nartatez said Ardiente’s leadership demonstrated his ability to represent the Philippines in high-level international security discussions while fostering stronger cooperation with regional police organizations. His participation further strengthened intelligence-sharing initiatives and collaboration against terrorism, cyber-enabled crimes, human trafficking, organized criminal groups, and other cross-border security challenges.

As Acting Chief of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence, Major General Ardiente is expected to lead intelligence gathering and analysis, enhance coordination with domestic and international law enforcement agencies, and provide strategic intelligence support for nationwide police operations.

The promotion underscores the PNP’s commitment to placing seasoned and highly capable officers in key leadership positions to ensure that the organization remains responsive to evolving security challenges both at home and within the broader ASEAN region.
