KALIBO, AKLAN- The Aklan Provincial Government has called on all sectors in the province to intensify its operation against dengue and other mosquito borne diseases.
In a two-page Executive Order No. 11 released Monday, Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores said preventive measures against dengue and other similar diseases. According to the Provincial Epidemiological Surveillance and Response Unit (APESRU) of the Provincial Health Office, Aklan has registered 275 dengue cases so far this year.
Of the said number, two have died. “The town of Ibajay has the highest number of dengue cases with 61 and has the highest attack rate of 1.14 percent. Other towns with the highest cases are Nabas with 52, Kalibo with 35 and Buruanga with 15 cases,” said Miraflores.
In the recent environmental investigation conducted by the APESRU, the towns of Malay and Babas were also found to have Dengue Mosquito Vector (AEDES Mosquito) which fall to the high risk classification.
Miraflores has also called on villages in Aklan to activate Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue, conduct simultaneous clean up drive, set up hydration units, regular information and surveillance systems among others.
