One Boracay, the Movement who once stopped the BIDA GOCC is reactivated for a bigger cause — to stop the unsolicited Boracay bridge project by san miguel.
Led by the Provincial Government of Aklan, One Boracay Coalition convened last April 24th to gather support from Boracay multi-stakeholders and to plan actions for the opposition.
Youth groups from Boracay and all over Aklan manifested strong opposition to the bridge taking the environmental and the cultural aspects as their main worry.
Notable presence on the meeting is DOT VI Regional Director, who narrated that DPWH missed to comply with Malacañang’s order for a proper consultation, yet the notice of award has proceeded in favor of san miguel.
Malay mayor was present showing no emotions nor conviction against the bridge.
Taking the DOT VI’s raised concerns over the bridge project, Malay Municipal Tourism Office’s silence sends us the message of their approval to the bridge.
Who is supposed to protect Boracay being the premier flagship destination for Philippine tourism? Isn’t it the local tourism office?
Lack of foresight, kiss ass culture, and being unconcerned are qualities manifesting for Malay MTO’s stand of support to the bridge.
How could a Boracay tourism officer personally declare support to Boracay bridge? Their basic mandate is to protect the tourism value of the place they lead.
Are we willing to become another Mactan Island connected to mainland Cebu and lost the island charm?
Aside from that, how stupid are we not to understand the impact of seafloor digging and dredging to Boracay’s already barely breathing marine ecosystem? Plus the very concerning beach erosion problems?
Is it still unclear to us that san miguel forces entry to Malay and Boracay to take control over us?
San miguel’s keyboard armies have already infiltrated in Boracay. Malaynon, don’t be an instrument to corporate greed’s success. We can understand your poor judgment but we can’t understand where your heart belong to: are we for Boracay’s sustainability or we intend to be an eternal puppet?
Dahil sa lack of foresight sa legislative office, executive office; ag tourism council dati, nanguna na ang Boracay sa mapa it over-development.

With expats residing in Boracay who make noise in support to bridge, Malay SB, maybe we can take a look how to sanction foreigners interferring with our internal affairs—who also make impolite comments, insults, and criticisms against our government.
