TANGALAN, Aklan- A pediatrician reportedly from Las Piñas City is currently being investigated by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in relation to the John Matthew Salilig hazing case.

In a press conference here, Senator Francis Tolentino, chair of the Blue Ribbon Committee, said that some of the seven suspects in the hazing pointed this out to the pediatrician. The said doctor reportedly refused to help the victim when he was reached out to.

Tolentino was here Saturday at the house of Second District Congressman Teodorico Haresco Jr. He served as one of the guests of the Tanghalan sa Aklan, a multi-talent competition Western Edition.

After his speech, Senator Tolentino went to Boracay, where he served as the keynote speaker at the Boracay Maharlikans Order of the Tiger.

“The NBI is yet to determine if the pediatrician has a liability for the death of Salilig. I was also informed that the seven suspects will be charged this week in the death of the student from Adamson University,” Tolentino added.

The doctor, according to the senator, has explained to the NBI that he could not help resuscitate the victim as his expertise is only for children. Salilig was 24 years old when he was beaten to death due to hazing.

The Department of Justice recently identified the suspects as Earl Anthony Osita Romero alias “Slaughter,” Tung Cheng Benitez Teng Jr. alias “Nike,” Jerome Ochoco Balot alias “Allie,” Sandro Dasalla Victorino alias “Loki,” Michael Lambert Alcazar Ricalde alias “Alcazar,” Mark Muñoz Pedrosa alias “Macoy” and Daniel delos Reyes Perry alias “Sting.” All of them were members of the Tau Gamma Phi Grand Fraternity or Triskellion AdU chapter.
