BORACAY Island, Aklan- South Korean tourists are preparing to go to Boracay soon.
Christine Mansinares, the regional director of the Department of Tourism-Western Visayas said that she received reports of several travel agents mounting the direct flight from South Korea to Kalibo.
The Kalibo International Airport has long been serving direct South Korea flights but has been suspended because of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
“The South Korean embassy has actually requested us to look for an RT PCR laboratory that could be accredited for the health safety of their travelers,” she said.
Soojin Kim, consulate for Aklan of the South Korean embassy said that currently South Korean returning residents are being required to a seven-day quarantine period to ensure that they are not carriers of the Covid-19 virus. “We are happy that Boracay is now open to international tourists,” she said.
Reports from the Malay Tourism Office indicate that some 400, 610 South Korean tourists visited Boracay in 2019.
