Taiwanese tourists flocking to Boracay

Boracay Island, Malay Akla—A plane carrying around 200 passengers from Taipei, Taiwan landed at the Godofredo Ramos Airport (Caticlan Airport in Barangay Caticlan, Malay Aklan on Monday, bringing scores of Taiwanese tourists to Boracay.

Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista confirmed this in a text message to the Boracay Island News Network.

“They were brought by the Royal Air,” Bautista said,

Earlier,  Aklan Gov. Jose Enrique Miraflores said they are lobbying for a direct flight to Aklan from Taoyuan City in Taiwan.

According to the Malay Tourism Office, Boracay logged some two million foreign and domestic tourists since last Jan. 1.
