BURUANGA, Aklan- Some tourism experts based in Boracay see the nearby town of Buruanga as a’sunset’ destination, complemented by its white sand beaches.

Sources from the tourism industry in Boracay told the Boracay Island News Network that the beautiful sunset seen on the Buruanga beaches was considered the reason why the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is planning to build a P749 million cruise ship port.

It was gathered that some multinational companies have already set their eyes on Buruanga for possible investments. “I believe that that whole area from Nausug Point (Malay) to Alegria Port in Buranga will be the next high end residential villas similar to other worldwide destinations.

The proposed Alegria site where the cruise port will be built is only 15 minutes away from Boracay via boat. Also, the resort island is only 12 kilometers by land from the Caticlan Airport.

“Also, that whole unspoiled stunning coastline of Buruanga from Nausug Point to Alegria has the potential to be like Phuket with private villas of the rich and famous,” the source added.

Another advantage of Buruanga is that its coastline areas are titled, providing leeway to investors to have a hand in their businesses. This is unlike in Boracay, where the beaches have been declared government property.

The town of Buruanga, a fifth-class municipality at the westernmost tip of Aklan, boasts white-sand beaches and other natural attractions for travelers.
