
Boracay Island- Collaborative efforts towards environmental stewardship can bring about positive societal change, not only cleanliness of the surroundings, but also restoration of what’s been gifted to us by our planet, our natural resources.

In celebration of World Wetlands Day 2026, with the theme “Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage,” the Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENRO) of Boracay, together with partner agencies and volunteers, conducted a simultaneous clean-up at the Boracay Wetlands, including Wetland No. 1 in Brgy. Yapak; Wetlands 2 and 4 in Brgy. Balabag; and Wetlands No. 6, 7, 8, and 9 in Brgy. Manocmanoc.

A total of 115 participants from the Malay Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, 52nd Air Force Group Reserve, MABOVEN Inc., Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Malay personnel, Cagban Jetty Port personnel, Local Government Unit (LGU), Street Cleaners, and PLGU Street Cleaners joined the effort.
For this year, over 70 sacks of garbage were collected around the aforementioned areas. Most collected garbage was residual waste, these are type of garbage that cannot be recycled, reused, or composted./DENR6
