The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will donate technology packages and essential learning equipment valued at โ‚ฑ12 million to 30 public schools across the country.

The initiative, which is part of the GSIS Adopt-a-School Program (ASP), is designed to enhance the learning experience for students, particularly those in underserved communities. It aims to provide critical resources that support both online and face-to-face instruction, helping to bridge the digital divide.

“This is an investment in educational equity and the future of our young learners,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said. “By bringing digital tools and modern equipment to schools, especially those in indigenous communities and remote areas, we are creating tangible opportunities for students.”

Starting 2024, under an agreement with the Department of Education, each of the 30 recipient schools will receive a โ‚ฑ400,000 package that includes information and communications technology equipment, furniture, and appliances tailored to their specific needs. The GSIS shall administer the procurement and delivery of the equipment.

Since the programโ€™s launch in 2014, the GSIS has supported 195 public schools nationwide with a total budget expended at โ‚ฑ64.6 million. The program has provided essential resources, from laptops and printers to school furniture and infrastructure repairs. As part of its commitment to sustainability, GSIS has also equipped two (2) schools in Mindanao with solar panel installations.

The program has so far benefited 20 schools in the National Capital Region, 82 in Luzon, 38 in the Visayas, and 55 in Mindanao.

The Adopt-a-School Program is a key component of the GSIS corporate social responsibility commitment, which also includes employee volunteerism through the annual Brigada Eskwela.
