
KALIBO, Aklan- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO VI) successfully conducted its Day 2 Cash Relief Assistance payout to municipalities in Western Visayas on April 17, 2026, as part of its continuing efforts to support transport workers affected by ongoing economic challenges.
Based on the final consolidated report, a total of 3,628 beneficiaries received P5,000 each, amounting to P18,140,000.00 in financial assistance. This represents an overall accomplishment rate of 88.92% of the target beneficiaries for the day.
In the province of Aklan, the municipalities of Banga, Buruanga, Ibajay, and Madalag recorded 576, 209, 591, and 97 beneficiaries served, respectively. In Capiz, Panit-an and Pilar reached 459 and 130 beneficiaries, while in Iloilo, the municipalities of Dueñas and San Enrique served 369 and 308 beneficiaries. Meanwhile, in Antique, Laua-an, Sebaste, and Tobias Fornier recorded 161, 205, and 523 beneficiaries, respectively.
The DSWD Field Office VI acknowledged the dedication of its personnel and partner stakeholders in ensuring the smooth and orderly implementation of the payout activities across all areas. Help desks were also established at payout sites to assist beneficiaries and promptly address concerns related to the distribution process.
This initiative is in line with the directive of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to ensure that government assistance reaches sectors most affected by economic pressures, particularly those in the transportation industry. It also supports the guidance of Rex Gatchalian to continuously deliver timely and responsive social protection programs that help sustain the daily needs and livelihoods of beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries who were unable to claim their assistance during the scheduled payout are encouraged to coordinate with their respective local government units for the announcement of special payout schedules.
