Malay PNP’S Campaign Against Illegal Gambling Nets Two Individuals

Malay PNP under the leadership of PLTCOL DON DICKSIE L DE DIOS, COP nabbed two (2) individuals in violation of PD 1602 in relation to RA 9287 on “Illegal Number Games/Bookies” in Caticlan on Monday, February 28.

Malay PNP operatives conducted anti-illegal gambling operations along market road, Brgy. Caticlan, Malay, Aklan and were able to arrest Cherry Mae Delos Santos y Berdonar, native of Brgy. Unidos, Nabas, Aklan, and Shaina Wenlien Tenorio, native of Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan for soliciting or collecting money from a police officer who acted as bettor of illegal numbers game commonly known as “bookies” which is not authorized by PCSO, and said operation of gambling activity is suspended in whole region.

Evidences seized from their possession included one piece (1) of cut cotejo with bet numbers and all with bet amount of twenty pesos (Php 20), one piece (1) of one hundred peso bill as real/marked money, and one (1) bundle/stub of “Cotejos” with heading PCSO PERYAHAN THROW COINS with code numbers.

Our relentless efforts on launching operations as directed by our Provincial Director PCOL LEO R TOLENTINO will continue and we will strictly impose the full force of the law as it steps up its campaign against all forms of lawlessness to minimize criminality in Malay,” PLTCOL DON DICKSIE L DE DIOS said.

The suspects are now under custody and the case is now being filed before the Provincial Prosecutors’ Office in Kalibo, Aklan thru inquest proceedings.
