KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) — The local government of Kalibo, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), has officially launched the Paleng-QR Ph plus Program, a digital payment initiative designed to promote cashless transactions in public markets and local transport sectors.
The Paleng-QR Ph plus aims to empower vendors, consumers, and tricycle drivers by utilizing QR Ph, the national standard for quick response (QR) code payments, to ensure safe, fast, and secure digital transactions.
Through the program, market vendors and transport operators can now receive payments directly via QR codes using any participating financial institution or e-wallet.
Kalibo Mayor Juris Sucro welcomed the rollout, saying it represents a key step toward digital transformation and financial inclusion in Aklan.
“May this program continue to inspire collaboration between the government and the private sector as we work together to build a more resilient, connected, and progressive country,” Sucro said.
DILG-Aklan Provincial Director Dindo Ponsaran delivered the message of Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, Regional Director of DILG Region VI, who reaffirmed support for promoting cashless transactions as a step toward building efficient, inclusive, and sustainable financial systems.
“As we move toward a future where cashless transactions become the norm, we are making progress in building systems that are not only efficient but also inclusive and sustainable,” Ponsaran said.
