Cayetano helps tourists’ guides, fishermen in Boracay

Boracay Island- Senatorial candidate Peter Allan Cayetano helps some 300 tourists’ guides and 14 fishermen affected by the COVID 19 pandemic here.

Cayetano’s political director Tong Floirendo personally came to Boracay recently to personally hand out the aid to the beneficiaries. The fishermen were given P10,000 each while the tourist guides have been provided grocery packs.

The assistance to the fisherfolks was part of the Sampung Libong Pagasa Program of Cayetano who also served as a House Speaker in Congress.

“Boracay has been close to the heart of Cayetano because of the dedicated tourism workers and fishermen who contributed to make it a premier tourist destination,” Floirendo said. Recently, Boracay has been named as top two most instagrammable places in the world.

In December 2020, Cayetano together with her sister Senator Pia Cayetano went to Boracay and met with the Boracay stakeholders and listened to their sentiments. It could be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered Boracay to be closed to tourists for six months to undergo environmental rehabilitation.
