NUMANCIA Aklan- Numancia town mayor Jeserel Templonuevo said that a crematorium near Numancia Cemetery in Barangay Badio, Numancia has partially opened to cater to the needs of the Aklan province.
Templonuevo told this writer that it is not yet fully operational as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) are studying its impact on the air pollution in the said town.
“The DENR is undertaking the air water sampling study of the said crematorium,” he said.
Earlier, residents of Badio opposed the project. The project is being managed by a company called Justrod Crematorium. The management has assured residents of the safety of the community involved.
Aside from Numancia, the towns of Kalibo and Altavas have earlier expressed interests in also putting up a crematorium in their respective towns.
