BORACAY ISLAND, AKLAN — A new chapter of leadership and service begins for the Kiwanis Southern Philippines District with the announcement of Dr. Carlos T. Capitan II as District Governor for Kiwanian Year 2026–2027.

The announcement was made during the Fellowship Gala Night on September 12, 2026, a highlight of the 51st Kiwanis Southern Philippines District Convention held at La Carmela de Boracay in Malay, Aklan.

Carrying the inspiring theme “Waves of Excellence, Shores of Service,” the convention brought together more than 400 Kiwanians and delegates from across the country, united by friendship, leadership, and a common commitment to serving children and communities.

Dr. Capitan’s assumption of the district’s top leadership position signals another year of strengthening Kiwanis clubs, expanding community programs, and inspiring members to create meaningful and lasting impact through service.

Kiwanis is an international service organization with thousands of members and clubs around the world, united by a mission centered on improving the lives of children and strengthening communities—one child and one community at a time.

The 51st District Convention was hosted by Division 2B of Aklan, under the leadership of outgoing District Governor Dan Fernandez. The successful Boracay gathering was organized under the stewardship of Past Lieutenant Governor Ramel Buncalan, Convention Chairman, together with the host clubs, officers, volunteers, and members of the Aklan Kiwanis community.

Against the backdrop of Boracay’s famous shores, the convention celebrated not only fellowship and achievements but also the continuity of Kiwanis leadership and service.

As Dr. Carlos T. Capitan II takes the helm for 2026–2027, the convention theme offers a fitting direction for the year ahead: to create waves of excellence in leadership that reach the shores of communities through meaningful service.

From Boracay, a new wave of Kiwanis service begins.
