Congratulations EWAGZ research team ๐ฅน๐, our paper is now on the stage for the global academic community.
This publication is the culmination of extensive efforts of my co-researchers Ms. Rosalyn Ascaรฑo Cahilig , Ms. Athena Gwyn Adenix and Mr. Munro Perez Cahilo. Especially to our supportive, tech-savvy, and ka Gen Z adviser Sir. El Vis, thank you sir for the guidance, contributions, and the constant push you gave us to grind through this ๐.
Honestly, I still wonder how I pulled it off! A little recognition for myself, I still remember the pressure and challenge to not only conduct and lead this study, travelling back and forth to Boracay, sourcing participants, but also meeting other academic deadlines while participating in a local pageant for the first time, helping in organizing (and sometimes serving as a chairperson) in our grad seminars and workshops. On top of that, managing my duties for the college supreme student council, juggling my personal responsibilities, and having to prep for OJT. It was a lot, but totally worth it! ๐ฅโจ Also, thank you tita Russell T. Krieglstein for the moral and financial support you gave me, this would have not been possible for me without your support.
Research Title: Work Experiences of Gen Z Employees in Boracay Resorts: A Case Study.
Beyond the pristine beaches, our research reveals the evolving workforce dynamics in Boracay’s resorts, as told by Gen Z themselves. Their experiences, challenges, perceptions, and work attitudes. I still remember how I kept hearing news about Gen Z being the most challenging or difficult generation to work with, and from there we decided to delve deeper into this issue as Gen Z ourselves. It was an enriching and humbling experience to be able to talk to different Gen Z employees, some already accomplished with Managerial positions while others just exploring and gaining experiences in search of their dream career.
Unlike previous generations who saw work become “always on,” Gen Z grew up with a constant digital connection. This makes them highly focused on setting boundaries between work and personal life. For them, work-life balance is a top priority, as they value their mental and physical health as much as, or more than, career success. They believe a good life goes beyond just their job.
To the participants: Gen Z employees in Boracay’s resorts, thank you! We really appreciate you taking the time for interviews and trusting us with your stories about working in the industry. Your perspectives made this research so much richer.
With this, our dedication and passion for research brought immense pride not just to Malay College, but to our whole academic community. We couldn’t have done it without the amazing mentors and individuals who guided and supported us:
Dr. Jimmy Maming
Dr. Cherry Colesio Escarilla
Mr. Manuel Gaviola
Dr. Jhoselle Tus
TO GOD BE THE HIGHEST GLORY! โจโ๐ป
