In the wake of the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, some have tried to connect these events to the disrespect shown to God during the Golden Globe Awards.
As someone who believes, I’d like to offer my viewpoint. God is fundamentally love—this is a core truth of faith. He does not punish innocent people because of specific incidents.
I don’t believe these wildfires were a sign of divine retribution. While the exact reasons behind these disasters are unclear, it’s unfair and illogical to attribute them to God’s judgment. Not everyone affected by the fires mocked God, so we shouldn’t link natural catastrophes to divine punishment.

It’s even more troubling to see some in the church supporting such ideas. Aren’t we meant to remind people that God is full of love, grace, and mercy, regardless of their faith or beliefs?
God wouldn’t single out individuals from different religions—like Scientologists or Buddhists—for punishment because of their faith. Rather than making these types of assertions, we should prioritize showing compassion.
Praying for and helping those who have lost homes and loved ones is a much more meaningful response that truly reflects God’s love. Just my two cents.
