
Boracay Island- All eyes are focused in this resort island this week speciaIIy coming from the Southeast Asian Nation as Boracay hosts ASEAN conference starting this March 6.
Police Captain Audrey Ayon, spokesperson of the AkIan Provincial Police Office (APPO) told the Manila Standard Wednesday that they intensified their police visibility to 2,400 personnel.
During the deployment of personnel last Sunday at Caticlan, Ayon said that they are fielding some 1,900 enforcers composed of Police, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Emergency Personnel among others.
There are no security threat in Boracay,” she said.
It was gathered that the ASEAN meeting will be held in this resort island March 6-8.
Earlier, the APPO announced that it had temporarily suspended the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFoR) for these dates; February 28- March 8; March 21-28; September 17-27 and November 14-22 this year.
Ayon said on these dates the APPO is in red alert because of the series of ASEAN meetings here.
