Ten Former Supporters of Terror-Linked Group Renounce Ties, Embrace Peace in Aklan

BANGA, Aklan – Ten individuals formerly associated with sectoral organizations linked to terrorist groups formally withdrew their support for such groups during a Local Peace Engagement Initiative (Withdrawal of Support) held at the Aklan Police Provincial Office on June 19, 2026.

The activity was spearheaded by Atty. Flosemer Chris I. Gonzales, Administering Officer of the Legal Cooperation Cluster and Joint Legal Action Team of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) Region 6. The initiative forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to address insurgency and terrorism through peaceful and lawful means.
During the event, the participants voluntarily executed affidavits declaring their withdrawal of support from organizations associated with terrorist activities and pledged their commitment to supporting government programs aimed at promoting peace and development in the province.

Representatives from various government agencies expressed their support and reaffirmed their commitment to assisting individuals who choose to reintegrate into society and contribute to peacebuilding efforts. Among those present were officials from the Aklan Police Provincial Office led by Provincial Director PCOL Arnel Ramos; the 82nd Infantry (Bantay Laya) Battalion headed by Commanding Officer LTC Elmar L. Salvador, and Battalion Executive Officer Maj. Rhosemen C. Enoslay; the 301st Infantry Brigade represented by Executive Officer LTC Joselito S. Dalida; the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Aklan; the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 6 (DSWD FO6); the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) for Aklan, Capiz, and Antique; the Provincial Task Force-ELCAC Aklan; the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Aklan; the New Washington Municipal Police Station; the Tangalan Municipal Police Station; and other partner agencies. Barangay officials and members of the media witnessed the signing of the affidavits.

As part of the government’s reintegration efforts, each beneficiary received food assistance worth โ‚ฑ10,000 from SWAD-DSWD Aklan, along with food packs from PSWDO Aklan. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance extended to them and acknowledged the importance of unity and cooperation under the government’s Whole-of-Nation Approach.

The Provincial Government of Aklan and its partner agencies reiterated their commitment to supporting individuals who choose to return to the folds of the law, emphasizing that lasting peace and sustainable development can be achieved through collective effort and cooperation.
