Iloilo City- The Department of Agriculture (DA)-led Kadiwa ng Pangulo was one of the highlights of the Bagong Pilipinas Caravan held at the Iloilo Sports Complex in La Paz, Iloilo City, on February 13, an event which the President Ferdinand โBongbongโ Marcos Jr. graced himself.
More than 3,000 Ilonggos, beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Developmentโs (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), participated in the event, along with job seekers attending the Department of Labor and Employmentโs (DOLE) job fair.
President Marcos emphasized that the sale of basic commodities and agricultural products, including milled rice, through Kadiwa not only provides financial aid recipients access to fresh and affordable goods but also ensures a reliable market for local farmersโ produce.
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo initiative is one of the Marcos administration’s key programs aimed at addressing rising food prices.
The DA Western Visayas, National Food Authority, and the National Irrigation Administration in collaboration with the Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI), offered well-milled rice at P29.00 per kilogram through the โRice for Allโ and โBagong Bayaning Magsasaka (BBM)โ programs.
โKasabay ang Kadiwa para makabili kayo ng mga bilihin na mura,โ President Marcos told the payout beneficiaries.
