Caticlan- The Caticlan Police Station urged tourists at the Caticlan Airport to be calm and vigilant as at least five flights were delayed Saturday due to the aftereffects of the global Microsoft outage.

Police Captain Redym Daligdig told the Boracay Island News Network in an interview that some 830 passengers, most of them tourists from Boracay, were at the Caticlan Airport. The flights have been cancelled at the advice of their respective aircraft, Air Asia and the Cebu Pacific.

At least three flights that were delayed are bound to Manila, and the other two flights are bound to Cebu,” he said. Earlier, the Municipal Disaster Risks Reduction and Management Office also advised commuters and travelers bound for Boracay to be wary of possible landslide incidents.

Reynard Dela Cruz, head of the Municipal Disaster Risks and Reduction Management Office in nearby Nabas, Aklan, said that a landslide occurred along the highway in Barangay Gibon, Nabas, Aklan Friday night. The landslide was the result of the typhoons brought by Butchoy.

The town of Nabas is known as the runway for the arrival of planes from Caticlan Airport. Tourists bound for Boracay using the Kalibo International Airport also pass through the Gibon Highway, where the landslide occurred.

“The road where a landslide has occurred has now been cleared and passable to commuters. However, there may still be incidents of falling rocks and debris with soil, so everyone must take care,” Dela Cruz, who is also the designated information officer of Nabas town said.
