DENR to Conduct IEC Drive on Water Code

Lezo, Aklan- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 6 has been ensuring that the stakeholders and water users are informed about the Water Code of the Philippines (PD 1067) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) though the conduct of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign.

This year, the Water Resource Utilization Section (WRUS) under the Licenses, Patents and Deeds Division (LPDD) headed by Atty. Elizur G. Militar of DENR 6 will conduct the IEC activity entitled “IEC Campaign on PD 1067: Water Code of the Philippines for Key Stakeholders
and Water Businesses Owners” at Lezo, Aklan in collaboration with the Lezo Municipal Local Government Unit (LGU) on September 11, 2024.

This activity aims to inform the general public especially the water permittees and applicants on the requirements needed for water permit.

In previous years the conduct of IEC in water resources management in the region has moderate gains in increasing its degree of implementation by disseminating the provisions of Water Code of the Philippines and its IRR. This event will familiarize the stakeholders from Lezo, Aklan and the private sectors.

 

The DENR aims to involve the LGUs and other government agencies as well as the concerned stakeholders to strengthen the connection with regards to water related initiatives and ensure the responsible optimum utilization, development, conservation and protection of the country’s water resources.

“This activity will somewhat educate the communities within Lezo, Aklan and the public in general to the proper monitoring, conservation and utilization of water resources,” said DENR 6 OIC-Regional Executive Director Raul L. Lorilla. /DENR 6
