Davao City- The Philippine Healthcare and Mercury Wastes Management Project (HCWM Project) is bringing its beloved mascot, Nurse Susie, to Mindanao, as part of its campaign to promote sustainable healthcare waste management and support the transition toward toxics-free hospitals.
The HCWM Project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and is being implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources โ Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) as the national lead agency, and NGO BAN Toxics serving as the executing entity.
The visit is part of a series of hospital roadshows to raise awareness on environmentally sound healthcare waste management practices among healthcare workers, local government units, and communities.
Nurse Susie encourages both healthcare professionals and the public to adopt practices that reduce waste generation, minimize toxic exposures, and protect public health and the environment.
